Spanish plane rips landing strip lights in Katowice

Air Europa charter plane carrying Polish UN peacekeepers from Lebanon destroyed 900 meters approach lights while touching down in Katowice last Sunday.

Airport authorities feared that the Katowice airport would be unable to accommodate flights landing in poor weather conditions. The repair of the light system could last approximately 3 weeks. Airport technicians managed to repair certain part of the strip lights, which will not cause any disturbance with airport's schedule.

The fuselage and lights of Boeing 737-800 was damaged. No passenger on board was hurt.
