Polish tourists left in Spain after airline bankruptcy

A number of Polish tourists were left stranded at the end of their summer vacation on Mallorca after Futura charter airline has announced cancellation of its flights.

A total of approx. 880 Poles – customers of different Polish tourist offices – got bad news about their traveling back home. Futura International Airways, which had 6 scheduled flights a week between Poland and Palma de Mallorca, reported “loss of financial liquidity”. Fortunately some of the tour operators found a substitute carriers to take home their clients. Also the government of the Balearas forced Futura executives to fulfill the remaining flights that are scheduled at least until Sunday. The news about airline bankruptcy is not only affecting those still on the Spanish islands, but also those that were still looking forward to their vacation.
