Lech Kaczyński, the president of Poland, was not able to continue its official trip through Asia, when its plane refused to ignite in Mongolia. Apparently, the temperature dropped at night to well below -10 degrees C, and it had a significant affect on the plane's ability to operate.
Several attempts to start engines proved unsuccessful, so did defrosting procedures. The TU-154M, which was made in the Soviet Union, had to go back to hangar. While the president's aides borrowed a plane from Mongolian hosts, to carry on with the trip to Japan.

Another breakdown of a government plane
It's already getting boring... Just recently - on Friday, June 21 - there has been another failure involving one of the governmental plane. When a TU-154M was taking-off from an airport in Bagram, Afganistan one of the tires blew off. The plane was carrying the speaker of the Polish Sejm (lower chamber of the Polish parliament). The plane managed to fly to Warsaw, and landed with a broken tire, where it was taken care of by the ground technicians. Nobody on board was hurt. The damage could have been caused by an unidentified object lying on the runway of Bagram's airport. At the moment the Polish government doesn't have any long-distance plane, as one of the TU-154M's has a broken wheel, and another one is being overhauled in Russia.
The Polish Prime Minister stated recently that he's hoping the governmental fleet to be exchanged very soon, because "flying with those planes is associated with more and more tension".

Junk fleet saga continues

Another Polish governmental airplane went broken. This time in Norway on Sunday, just before taking off to Poland after the 67. anniversary of the battle of Narvik. The Polish officials, including government representatives, members of the clergy and II world war veterans, will have to wait until Monday. The glitch in TU-154M was discovered during a routine control just before takeoff. The plane was not able to take home some 100 people on board.
